Event: “Women and the Supreme Court Bar”

Tomorrow at Georgetown Law Center, Justice Ginsburg will join a panel of women experts in Supreme Court practice to discuss “Women and the Supreme Court Bar.” Â Law professor Pamela Harris, director of Georgetown’s Supreme Court Institute, will moderate. Â The panel will run from 3:30 – 5 p.m in the Hart Auditorium of McDonough Hall.

- Hon. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States; former counsel in several Supreme Court cases
- Professor Pamela Karlan, Professor, Stanford Law School; Co-Director, Stanford Supreme Court Litigation Clinic
- Ms. Patricia Millett, Partner and Co-Chair of Supreme Court Practice, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP; Â former Assistant to the Solicitor General
- Ms. Virginia Seitz, Partner, Supreme Court and Appellate Practice, Sidley Austin LLP
According to the invitation, the panelists will “discuss their career paths to appellate practices and their experiences as Supreme Court advocates, offering guidance to other women who hope to practice before the Court. They also will take on directly the issue of gender diversity in the Supreme Court bar, addressing obstacles to fuller participation by women and ways to increase the number of women lawyers in Supreme Court practice.”
