The Week Ahead

The Court will be closed on Monday in observance of Veterans Day.

On Tuesday, the Court is scheduled to release orders from the Justices’ private conference last Friday. (Click here for our list of petitions to watch from the November 9 conference.)

The Court is expected to act this week on a motion to stay the scheduled execution Thursday evening of Florida death row inmate Mark Dean Schwab (Schwab v. Florida, application 07A383).

Petitioners’ briefs are due Wednesday in Gomez-Perez v. Potter (06-1321) and Thursday in CBOCS West v. Humphries (06-1431). No respondents’ briefs are due this week, but the petitioners’ reply briefs will be filed in the two detainee cases, Boumediene v. Bush (06-1195) and Al Odah v. U.S. (06-1196).
