Potential nominee profile: Judge Thomas Hardiman, a close second to Gorsuch and a shortlister again

When President Donald Trump was searching for a nominee in 2017 to fill the vacancy created by the 2016 death of Antonin Scalia, he reportedly narrowed the field to two candidates: then-Judge Neil Gorsuch, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, and Judge Thomas Hardiman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit.
