Holding

Police officers who forcibly entered the room of a woman with a mental disability and shot her are entitled to qualified immunity from a lawsuit seeking redress for the woman's injuries, because there was no clearly established law requiring them to accommodate her mental illness.

Judgment

Reversed in part and remanded, 6-2, in an opinion by Samuel Alito on May 18, 2015. Justice Scalia filed an opinion concurring in part and dissenting in part, in which Justice Kagan joined. Justice Breyer took no part in the consideration or decision of the case.
