Holding: Restitution under the Mandatory Victims Restitution Act of 1996 is criminal punishment for purposes of the Ex Post Facto Clause.
Judgment: Reversed and remanded, 9-0, in an opinion by Justice Kavanaugh on January 20, 2026. Justice Thomas filed a concurring opinion, joined by Justice Gorsuch.
