At the First One @ One First blog Mike Sacks has posted Ryan Malphurs’ open letter to the Court in which Malphurs discusses in depth the scene at One First on the eve of the Snyder v. Phelps oral arguments. Based upon his observations, Malphurs laments that “The egalitarian and often fair nature of the Court’s line for oral arguments has begun deteriorating over the years without any guidance from the Court, potentially disadvantaging the very citizens who hold the Court dear.â€
Writing for Slate, Richard Hasen reviews answers to the question, “What’s the Point of Disclosing Campaign Donations?†Hasen harkens back to the 1976 campaign finance case, Buckley v. Valeo, in which the Court held that campaign finance disclosure laws could be justified by government interests. Moving into the present, Hasen considers how the internet has affected the issue of campaign finance disclosure, and predicts that the Court will have to face this soon enough.
