On Monday, July 9, the New York City lawyers chapter of the Federalist Society will host “The Recent Terrorism Cases” at the Cornell Club at 6 pm. The panel debate will feature Jonathan Hafetz of the Brennan Center for Justice, Deputy Associate Attorney General Gregory G. Katsas of the Justice Department, and Ben Wizner of the ACLU. Also on Monday, the District of Columbia Bar will host “The Supreme Court: The View From the Press Gallery” at Arnold & Porter LLP from 12 to 2 pm. Speakers will include Joan Biskupic of USA Today, Jan Crawford Greenburg of ABC News, Tony Mauro of Legal Times, David Savage of the Los Angeles Times and Stuart Taylor of the National Journal. On Wednesday, July 11, Georgetown University Law Center will host “Sizing Up the 2006-2007 Supreme Court Term: A Practitioner’s View” from 3:30 to 5 pm. Mauro will moderate the discussion, which will include Tom, Jeffrey Lamken of Baker Botts, Michael Dreeben of the Solicitor General’s office, and Eve Gartner, a senior staff attorney for Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
