Announcement of opinions for Wednesday, April 17 (complete)

We live blogged as the court released opinions in two argued cases from the current term.

  • The court held in Muldrow v. City of St. Louis that an employee challenging a job transfer under Title VII must show that the transfer brought about some harm with respect to an identifiable term or condition of employment, but the harm does not have to be significant.
  • And in McIntosh v. United States, the court unanimously held that when a district court fails to comply with the requirement to enter a preliminary forfeiture order before sentencing, as outlined in the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, that does not preclude the district judge from later ordering forfeiture subject to review on appeal for harmlessness.
