House Judiciary Committee to hold hearing on the shadow docket

On Thursday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. EST, the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on courts, intellectual property and the internet will hold a hearing on the Supreme Court’s so-called shadow docket, the unofficial term for emergency rulings and other orders the court hands down outside its formal opinions in argued cases. The witnesses scheduled to testify at the hearing are Stephen Vladeck of the University of Texas School of Law, Amir Ali of the MacArthur Justice Center, Michael Morley of Florida State University College of Law, and Loren AliKhan, the solicitor general of the District of Columbia.

A livestream of the hearing will be available here. For more on the shadow docket, a SCOTUSblog symposium on the issue is available here.
