New order list

Aug 30, 2013

This morning the Court issued a new (and routine) order list.  It did not grant any new cases.  Among other things, it denied petitions for rehearing and (as it often does) granted the Solicitor General’s motion for divided argument in several cases scheduled for oral argument in October.  The Court also granted a motion by Senator Mitch McConnell to participate in the oral argument in McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission, the challenge to the constitutionality of aggregate limits on contributions to federal candidates and political committees.  Senator McConnell will presumably be represented at the oral argument by Bobby R. Burchfield, his counsel in the case, who was one of the advocates in the 2003 campaign finance case, McConnell v. FEC.
