Kagan investiture plans

Justice Elena Kagan, who has been working as a member of the Supreme Court since taking the oath in private Aug. 7, will have a public investiture on Friday, Oct. 1, at an invitation-only ceremony in the Courtroom at 2 p.m. Press coverage is by reservation only. The details and the arrangements can be found in this news release by the Court’s Public Information Office. This is a special sitting before the Court formally begins the new Term on Monday, Oct 4., at 10 a.m. Although the Court will not be on the bench for public business until Oct. 4, it is holding its first Conference of the new Term today, and orders on newly granted cases may be issued on Tuesday.
