Today at the Court

At 10 a.m., the Court will release orders from the Justices’ private conference last Friday.

Following the release of any orders, the Court will hear argument in Nijhawan v. Holder (08-495), on a challenge to banishment after felony conviction. Thomas E. Moseley of Newark will argue for the petitioner. Curtis E. Gannon, Assistant to the Solicitor General, will argue for the attorney general.

At 11 a.m.,  the Court will hear argument in Bobby v. Bies (08-598), on a claim of interference by a federal appeals court with a state court over a mental retardation issue in a death penalty case. Benjamin C. Mizer, Solicitor General of Ohio, will argue for the warden. John Blume, of Cornell Law School in Ithaca, N.Y., will argue for the criminal defendant.
