The Week Ahead

On Monday, the Court will be closed in observance of Columbus Day.

On Tuesday, the Court is scheduled to hear oral argument in Waston v. United States (06-571) and Stoneridge v. Scientific-Atlanta (06-43). At 10 a.m., the Court is expected to release orders, including grants of certiorari, from its private conference on Friday.

On Wednesday, the Court is scheduled to hear oral argument in Medellin v. Texas (06-984).

Friday is the deadline for the District of Columbia to respond to the cross-petition in the D.C. guns case, Parker v. District of Columbia (07-335). The District may also file a reply brief in its own appeal, District of Columbia v. Heller (07-290).

No petitioners’ briefs are due this week. Respondents’ briefs are due Tuesday in the consolidated cases of Boumediene v. Bush (06-1195) and Al Odah v. United States (06-1196), and Thursday in Rowe v. New Hampshire Motor Transport Association (06-457).
