This week on the Wiki

The Court handed down five opinions on Monday, and in response we have updated the five corresponding case pages on our sister site, SCOTUSwiki, to include links to new opinions and commentary.  The case page for American Needle v. NFL now links to the Court’s decision and features an opinion analysis by SCOTUSblog’s Lyle Denniston, while the case page for United States v. Marcus now includes the opinion and a recap by Stanford Law School’s Priyanka Rajagopalan.  We have updated the case page for Hardt v. Reliance Standard Life Insurance, also decided Monday, to include the decision and an opinion recap by Stanford’s Connor Williams, while the case page for United States v. O’Brien now includes links to the opinion and a recap by Stanford’s Alexandra Lampert.  The page for Lewis v. City of Chicago now links to the decision and to analysis by Akin Gump’s Carl Cecere, while the case page for Robertson v. United States ex rel. Watson – which was dismissed on Monday in a per curiam opinion – now includes a link to the ruling and commentary by Harvard Law School’s James Bickford.

In response to the Court’s Monday orders, we have also updated the Wiki to reflect five new cert. grants: Williamson v. Mazda, Sossamon v. Texas, AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion, Arizona Christian School Tuition Organization v. Winn, and Skinner v. Switzer all have new case pages of their own.

We have also updated our list of cases in which the Court has called for the views of the Solicitor General (a “CVSG”) to include Maxwell-Jolly v. Independent Living Center of Southern California and PLIVA, Inc. v. Mensing/Actavis Elizabeth v. Mensing.  In addition, the Solicitor General filed invitation briefs in a number of cases during the past two weeks, and as a result we have added the filed invitation briefs to the pages for the following cases: Chase Bank USA v. McCoy, Ortho Biotech Products v. United States ex rel. Duxbury, Janus Capital Group, Inc. v. First Derivative Traders, Holy See v. Doe, Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy v. Reinhard, Thompson v. North American Stainless, Providence Hospital v. Moses, Amara v. CIGNA/CIGNA v. Amara, Golden Gate Restaurant Association v. County of San Francisco, Triple S. Management Corp. v. Municipal Revenue Collection Center, Carmichael v. Kellogg, Brown & Root Service, Inc., and Pfizer, Inc. v. Abdullahi.

We have also updated the case pages for Snyder v. Phelps and Bruesewitz v. Wyeth – both expected to be argued in the OT10 Term – to include newly filed petitioners’ briefs.  In addition, the case page for NASA v. Nelson, also scheduled for next Term, now includes a link to a new amicus brief.

As Erin announced last week, we have created a new Wiki page to track media and blogosphere coverage of the Kagan nomination, and we continue to update that page daily.  In addition, as we do every week, we have continued to update individual case pages to reflect ongoing case-specific commentary from the media and the blogosphere.
