Next Fall’s Argument Schedule

As Lyle notes, the October calendar includes three hours of argument for four of the five argument dates. An earlier AP wire story on the Chief Justice’s speech to the D.C. Circuit Judicial Conference suggested that the Court would add additional dates later in the fall as well. That seems sufficiently unlikely given the number of cases the Court has available that I view it as most likely a misunderstanding by the reporter. I expect that in fact the Court will have two arguments per day in November and December. If so, following today’s grants of certiorari in two cases and the setting of an original case for argument as well, there are five argument slots remaining to fill in December from the two remaining conferences. The Petitions to Watch lists for those Conferences are here and here.
