Duff to return as head of courts office

James C. Duff, who served as director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts from 2006 until 2011, is returning for a second tour of duty in that post, Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., announced on Tuesday. The AO is the housekeeping and budgeting agency of the federal court system, and helps shepherd court-related legislation through Congress.
In early January, Duff will succeed U.S. District Judge John D. Bates as director. Bates will return to full-time judicial duty on a federal court in Washington, D.C. The news release on the appointment is here.
