Because the Court handed down a total of five opinions on Tuesday and Wednesday, we have added lots of new material to our sister site, SCOTUSwiki, this week. To the case page for Jones v. Harris Associates, we have added a link to Tuesday’s decision and a recap by Stanford Law School’s Connor Williams, while the case page for Graham County Soil & Water Conservation Dist. v. United States ex rel. Wilson has been updated to include a link to the opinion and a recap by Jacqueline de Armas, also of Stanford, along with analysis by Lyle Denniston. We have added a recap of the decision in Berghuis v. Smith by Harvard Law School’s James Bickford, as well as a link to the opinion, to the page for that case, and the case page for Shady Grove Orthopedic v. Allstate Insurance now includes the opinion and commentary written by Lyle. We have also added a link to the decision, as well as my own recap, to the Padilla v. Kentucky case page.
We have also updated several case pages to include transcripts and recaps of this week’s oral arguments. The page for Renico v. Lett, argued Monday, has been updated to include an argument transcript, and the page for Morrison v. National Australia Bank has been updated to include a transcript, as well as commentary written by Lyle. Turning to Tuesday’s arguments, we have updated the Dillon v. United States page to include a preview by Troy D. Cahill and a recap by Josh Friedman, both of Akin Gump. To the case page for Barber v. Thomas, we have added a recap by Akin Gump’s Carl Cecere. The case page for Robertson v. United States ex rel. Watson, which was argued on Wednesday, has been updated to include James Bickford’s preview and recap, while the case page for Carachuri-Rosendo v. Holder now includes my own argument preview and recap as well.
Merits briefs were filed in a number of cases this week, and we have updated the pages for those cases accordingly. Respondents’ briefs were added to the case pages for Dolan v. United States, Doe v. Reed, and Monsanto Co. v. Geerston Seed Farms, and we have added a reply brief to the page for Carachuri-Rosendo v. Holder. Amicus briefs have also been added to the pages for Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, Dolan, Hardt v. Reliance Standard Life Insurance, Rent-a-Center, West v. Jackson, and Doe.
As we do every week, we have updated individual case pages to reflect new media and blogosphere coverage. In particular, Padilla v. Kentucky and Jones v. Harris Associates both received a great deal of media attention this week.
