Breaking News

This week on the Wiki

Following the Court’s return from a recess, we have updated our sister site, SCOTUSwiki, to include materials relating to the cases which were argued or decided, or in which briefs were filed, in the past several days.

We have updated the case page for Levin v. Commerce Energy, argued Monday, to include a transcript as well as an argument recap by Harvard Law School’s Josh Branson.  To the page for Hamilton v. Lanning, also argued Monday, we have added an argument transcript as well as a recap by Professor M. Jonathan Hayes.  The page for New Process Steel v. National Labor Relations Board, argued Tuesday, has been updated to include an argument transcript and recap by Harvard Law School’s Dina Guzovsky, while the case pages for Wednesday’s arguments – Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha v. Regal-Beloit Corp. and Magwood v. Patterson – now include transcripts as well.  The page for Magwood also includes a recap by Jay Rapaport of Harvard Law School, in addition to links to argument-day podcasts featuring counsel for respondents and an amicus.

Following the Court’s ruling on Tuesday in United Student Aid Funds v. Espinosa, we have updated that case page to include a link to the opinion, as well as a recap on the Court’s decision by Bryan Henderson of Stanford Law School.

Looking forward, we have added an argument preview by Lyle Denniston to the case page for Morrison v. National Australia Bank, which will be argued tomorrow.  Carl Cecere of Akin Gump has previewed Tuesday’s upcoming argument in Barber v. Thomas, while the case page for Renico v. Lett, scheduled for argument on Monday, now includes a preview by Erin Miller of SCOTUSblog.

In addition, we have updated a number of case pages to include merits-stage briefs which were filed this week.  Respondents’ briefs have been added to the pages for Hardt v. Reliance Standard Life Insurance, Rent-a-Center v. Jackson, and Doe v. Reed, and reply briefs for petitioners are now available on the case pages for Robertson v. United States ex rel. Watson, Renico v. Lett, and Carachuri-Rosendo v. Holder.  In addition, we have also added newly filed amicus briefs to the case pages for City of Ontario v. Quon.

We have also updated our case index to reflect the Court’s grant of cert. in four new cases on Monday.  As a result, the index for the OT10 term now links to case pages for Connick v. Thompson, Belleque v. Moore, Kasten v. Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Corp., and Flores-Villar v. United States.

As always, we have continued updating case pages this week to reflect ongoing media and blogosphere coverage.
