Questionnaire respondents split on Garland as nominee

Over the weekend, 737 readers responded to this blog’s questionnaire (which was asked through the SCOTUSblog app and is not based on scientific, representative samples) asking if they agree with President Obama’s nominee Merrick Garland. Here are the results:

60% agreed with his choice

Of the 28% who said no—

32% because he is too conservative/moderate
21% because he does not enhance diversity on the Court
18% because the next president should nominate the next justice
14% because he is too liberal
14% for a reason not listed

10% of respondents said they were not sure and 2% did not care.
