Today at the Supreme Court | 11.4.08

At 10 a.m., the Court will hear argument in FCC v. Fox Television Stations (07-582), on whether the Federal Communications Commission provided adequate justification for changing its policy regarding fines for the broadcast of isolated expletives. Solicitor General Gregory Garre will argue for the petitioner, and Carter Phillips of Washington, D.C., will argue for the respondent.

At 11 a.m., the Court will hear argument in United States v. Eurodif (07-1059) and USEC v. Eurodif (07-1059) , on whether certain imports of enriched uranium are subject to federal anti-dumping laws. Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm Stewart will argue for the petitioner in 07-1059, H. Bartow Farr of Washington, D.C., will argue for the petitioner in 07-1078,and Caitlin Halligan of New York will argue for the respondent in both cases.

At 1 p.m., the Court will hear argument in Jimenez v. Quarterman (07-6984), on whether the reinstatement of an appeal under Texas law restarts the one-year deadline to file a habeas petition under federal law. Tom Goldstein of Washington, D.C., (and this blog) will argue for the petitioner, and Texas Deputy Solicitor General Sean Jordan will argue for the respondent.
