I think that not only her white house counsel work will become fair game, but also her years of personal legal work for the president will become the subject of close investigation

What are the chances that she will have to answer questions about her converstations with the President concerning civil rights, the ADA, Roe v. Wade and the like? She can say she can't comment since these are issues that may come before the Court, but if she has already spoken to the President about them, doesn't the public have the right to know as well? And will she assert that those conversations were privileged?

I think Professor Garnett said it best: "I'm pleased by the fact that the White House Counsel who gave us Roberts, Pryor, Owen, and Brown has been nominated to join their ranks."

Analysts on NPR's Diane Rehm show stated Meirs is another O'Conner, suggesting Bush lacks the political capital to swing the Court in any specific direction.
