Thanks for Visiting
We’re just clearing 300,000 hits today from more than 100,000 unique visitors (roughly 170,000 by our counter, but I think that figure is deceiving). We never before exceeded 100,000 hits in a day, and today’s number is actually lowered by the fact that we had the live blog up so that (thankfully for our servers) readers did not have to refresh during our period of peak use around 10am Eastern.
We appreciate our readers, including our many new visitors. Thanks in particular to the Drudge Report and the users of Digg (which had us at the top of their respective pages), Instapundit, the folks at Volokh (a huge day for recognizing Eugene’s scholarship), Abovethelaw, and many others who were very kind with links.
Substantively, we are grateful to all our authors, but none more so than Lyle, who not only gets us instantaneous information — within the constraints of the Court’s rules — but also both provides incredible objective reporting and incisive commentary at breathtaking speeds. As just two examples, his most recent analytical pieces on Heller (here) and Boumediene (here) are, to my mind, incomparable.
Special appreciation to Jason Harrow (who repeatedly optimized the site to deal with times at which we were getting 200 hits per second) and the team at Coveritlive (which made sure the live blog stayed up as well). Lots more analysis — of Heller and the term in general — is coming.
We hope you come back.

Actually I’d like to thank Tom Goldstein (even though he was co-counsel for DC) for making this site.
Were it not for this site and someone I know in real life, I’d have never gotten into Court Watching.
Tom, your site takes court watching from something that only a few lawyers can do, to anyone can do.
Heller sparked my interest and got me checking this site all the time. I’ll continue to come here as the commentary and insight are much better than most other places on the net (sans Volokh or numerous others).
Others follow in commentary, you lead. You’ve gained a life-long reader. Thank you to all the staff, it’s been a wonderful learning experience for me.
