For criminal investigation purposes, the FBI shouldn't be considered part of the "Executive Branch", otherwise congressmen have more rights in these matters than ordinary citizens. And there's some self-dealing in the Federal Court's decision too: As members of the Judiciary Branch, presumably these judges are saying that they, too, have immunities/priviledges vis-a-vis the FBI that ordinary citizens do not have. As someone once said, the Attorney General isn't the President's lawyer, he's the People's lawyer. Likewise, the FBI isn't the President's investigatory agency, it too belongs to the People. And every person should be equal before the Law. I’m not sure what the issue is here.
