		<description>With respect to the matter of the breadth of the Justices&#039; experiences, and the suggestion that the Court today lacks Justices with the legislative and other experience of, say, Justices Black, O&#039;Connor, and Marshall:  It strikes me as strange, even bizarre, that so many commentators and journalists are emphasizing, and according great significance to, Justice Stevens&#039; separate dissent in the school-assignment cases, while (for the most part) ignoring or dismissing the substantial concurring opinion of the one sitting Justice who actually experienced poverty and segregated schools, i.e., Justice Thomas.
