Wednesday round-up

Yesterday a divided Court declined to block a Texas law that requires doctors to have admitting privileges at a hospital within thirty miles of the clinic where they perform abortions.  Opponents of the law contend that the law will make it significantly more difficult for pregnant women, especially those in rural areas, to obtain abortions.  Lyle Denniston covered the Court’s order for this blog; other coverage of and commentary on the order come from Ruthann Robson at the Constitutional Law Prof Blog and Rick Hasen at his Election Law Blog.

Briefly:

  • Also at Constitutional Law Prof Blog, Ruthann Robson discusses the Court’s announcement that it would not review a challenge to a court order requiring Verizon to turn customer data over to the National Security Agency.   (Lyle covered the denial of review for this blog.)
