Line formed for marriage arguments

Spectators seeking to get into the Supreme Court chamber for next week’s oral arguments on the same-sex marriage cases began lining up on Thursday at about 9 p.m. — more than four days before the first argument, Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The Court does not discourage such lines, and they commonly form for hearings in highly visible cases.  It is up to each individual to make an arrangement for staying in line.

Seats for the media in the courtroom already have been allotted.  At most, only about 120 reporters will have seats in the courtroom, but there will be an overflow room with audio only for a dozen or so more reporters.
