This morning the Court will hear oral argument in two cases.  In Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum, the Court will consider whether corporations can be sued under the Alien Tort Statute for human rights violations overseas. In Mohamad v. Palestinian Authority, the Court will consider whether political entities can be sued under the Torture Victim Protection Act for human rights violations overseas. Lyle Denniston previewed both cases for the blog.

[Disclosure:  Goldstein & Russell, P.C., whose attorneys contribute to this blog in various capacities, serves as counsel to the petitioners in Mohamad.]
