Today at the Court: February 21, 2012

This morning at 10:00 we expect orders and opinions, which we will be live-blogging. The Justices will hear two cases this morning. At issue in the first, Freeman v. Quicken Loans, is whether Section 8(b) of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act prohibits a real estate settlement services provider from charging an unearned fee only if the fee is divided between two or more parties.  Ronald Mann previewed the case. Brian Wolfman previewed the second case, Taniguchi v. Kan Pacific Saipan, in which the Court will consider whether a federal statute that allows the prevailing party in a lawsuit to recover costs for compensation of interpreters also allows compensation for document translation costs.
