The Court has released an opinion in Altria Group v. Good (07-562), on whether federal law preempts state tort claims against tobacco manufacturers over the marketing of "light" cigarettes. The ruling below, which ruled against the tobacco manufacturers, is affirmed and remanded. Justice Stevens wrote the majority opinion. Justice Thomas filed a dissenting opinion, joined by the Chief Justice and Justices Scalia and Alito. The opinion is available here.
