As a former Louisiana resident, I feel it my duty to oppose the child rape law that Louisiana has enacted. It won't make children any safer. If anything, it will give the rapist an incentive to kill his/her victims to keep the child from testifying for the prosecution. The law is discriminatory against non-whites, especially if their gender is male. It will also make victims who otherwise want punishment against the rapist reluctant to come forward if the penalty is death instead of life without parole. The death penalty also requires a series of endless appeals that a life without parole sentence does not require. These appeals will require the rape victim to constantly re-live her (or sometimes his) ordeal instead of allowing the victim to get back on with life. The only beneficiaries of this law are state politicians of both parties in Louisiana pretending to be champions for crime victims to cover up their own corporate crimes.
