On Tuesday, June 19, 2007, the National Chamber Litigation Center NCLC is hosting the 3rd Annual End-of-Term Supreme Court Media Briefing from 8:30-10:00am at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Supreme Court practitioners Maureen Mahoney, Partner, Latham & Watkins LLP, and Beth Brinkmann, Partner, Morrison & Foerster LLP, will brief members of the media on business cases from the High Court’s most recent term in addition to discussing the Court and its impact on the business community. The Washington Legal Foundation is holding a media briefing on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at 8:30am at the at its M.J. Murdock Center for Free Enterprise in Washington, D.C. Speakers will assess rulings that affect the free enterprise system and other key developments from the Court’s 2006 term. The 2007 Summit for Appellate Judges, Lawyers and Staff Attorneys – presented by the Appellate Judges’ Education Institute and co-sponsored by the ABA Judicial Division’s Appellate Judges’ Conference, the Council of Appellate Lawyers, and the Council of Appellate Staff Attorneys – is being held September 27-30, 2007, in Washington D.C. Highlights of the summit include a reception at the Supreme Court with Justice Thomas; addresses from General William Suter, Clerk of the Court, and New York Times Supreme Court Correspondent Linda Greenhouse; a panel discussion on cert. petitions featuring Chief Deputy Clerk Chris Vasil; as well as a preview of the Court’s 2007 Term.
